Lola is trained by Frankie Acosta and bred by Andrew Shilke.
Frankie enjoys buying and training pups from different breeders and different bloodlines. Frankie liked the presence and style of Shilke’s Banks dog and decided to buy a pup out of Banks. Lola proved to inherit his style of working and biddability.
Frankie used his first Border Collie daily at Turlock Livestock Yard where he worked for 6 years. He took this first dog to a trial in Oakdale California where he would meet Robbie Richardson and Mike Canaday. Frankie was offered the opportunity to work dogs with Richardson and Canaday. He learned a lot from them and began to refine his dogs and achieve a higher level of training as a result.
Frankie currently manages a beef operation near The Central Coast of California for Dustin and Shannon Wood, who are themselves Border Collie and Cowdog Trial Enthusiasts. Acosta says he prefers an intense, high drive type of dog that craves work and has plenty on stamina. These hard working, intelligent dogs are well suited for gathering the steep and rugged country that Acosta manages.
